Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF)

(Glossary)

HGDefinition.jpg

DTMF is a "Non-ASTRO" signaling protocol that is used by certain Conventional Systems, and therefore for certain Conventional - channels. DTMF is widely used in the telephone industry. Two tones are transmitted simultaneously at different amplitudes for each keypad key pressed. A sequential series of Dual Tones makes a data word.

Conventional System are selected for Conventional Personalities from the Non-ASTRO System field.

When the Non-ASTRO System field selects a DTMF Conventional System, the Non-ASTRO Signaling Type field must be set to "DTMF".

A personality's Rx Voice/Signal Type field must be set to "Non-ASTRO" or "Mixed Mode".

DotYellow.png No matter if a personality's Rx Voice/Signal Type field is set to "Non-ASTRO" or "Mixed Mode", and no matter if the Tx Voice/Signal Type is set to "ASTRO", a DTMF System must be selected in the Non-ASTRO System field.
